What a Great Summer

Hi,

July is almost over and many places are dealing with heatwaves, not enough water or too much water.  I hope everyone is having a great summer.  I’ve directed about a dozen classmates to this site yet haven’t seen much activity up till now here- as opposed to people calling me on the phone and asking what’s going on with the planning and who have I  been in contact with.

It’s great catching up however this really is the best way to send messages as other classmates find us they can read the history and also post who they’ve been in contact with over the years.

That’s why it’s important to log on and join in.  For those who attended the reunion in ‘99 lots fo the details used for the event came from your comments, suggestions and lists of fav music, who you’re searching for, who lived the farthest, etc.

Continue to enjoy to great weather, visiting family and friends and R&R time.  I’m just back from Austin, Texas for research on a book about my dad, jazz musician Kenny Dorham.  My next adventure is visiting Destin, Florida for the 1st time and hopefully spending time with a great friend Liz and her family (not from JHS) who moved her family back to her birthplace of Puerto Rico.  Liz lives a few blocks from the most beautiful beach in P.R. and where we meet many fellow New Yorker’s out for the early morning walks.

Beware of this reunion planner - they destroyed the 20th!

A company called Reunions Unlimited put themselves in charge of organizing an 18th reunion. That’s correct - an 18th. In order to make a fast buck, they scheduled a reunion in 1987, with only 6 months of planning. The notification was shoddy. People whose address hadn’t changed since 1969 were not even notified.
Naturally, the attendance was low. Reunions Unlimited combined the 18th reunion with the class of 1968 to fill the room. It was a very disappointing experience.

We request the assistance of any lawyers among the alumni to advise us of any steps we need to take in order to make sure that Reunions Unlimited will not be involved with the 40th reunion.

Thank you

The people here would like to hear from you!

Please feel free to leave them a message in their section.

Greetings Fellow JHS Classmates of 1969!

I realize how quickly our 40th graduation anniversary will arrive so I’ve decided to step up and get the ball rolling for our 40th JHS Reunion Celebration.

I have reached out to a few of our fellow classmates who are interested to pitch in and yes, we can use your help too! Your suggestions, ideas & expertise will be crucial to creating our visions for the 40th.

I think we can agree right off that a collaborative effort will ensure whatever is planned will be of interest to many and with so many great options to gather together in big and small groups we consider different types of fun ways to get together and enjoy each other’s company.

Let’s not forget to reach out to classmates who we know missed the wonderful 30th Reunion and direct them to this site. There are groups on the page for various categories making it very easy to keep up to date. A big thanks to our Webmaster.

I look forward to hearing from those of you interested to volunteer to help plan a spectacular 40th Reunion!
